We lived a normal live with a normal routine, until one evening when we
You were in the middle of this urban fuss and our lives suddenly changed their course.
We named you Jimmy.
Jimmy weighted 900 grams on the day we found him. It definetely was not easy for us to take care of him, he soon became a big dog and was hard to handle.
We tried to find a house with a yard, to offer him enough space to be joyful and active, but unfortunately we couldn’t.
Since Jimmy wasn’t purebred no one wanted him.
Two and a half months passed and we did not know how to handle Jimmy. He
was barking a lot and the neighbours were complaining every day. When they
called the police for the third time, the policeman threatened us to take Jimmy
away from us.
A friend, who turned out not to be a good friend, took Jimmy and released him in the street to “solve the problem”. The intense stress of the hours I spent looking for him was indescribable. It was more of a miracle that I found him again in the middle of the streets.
At that point we were inseperable.
When Jimmy was four months old he got the Parvovirus, a severe infection
which leads to the death in most cases.
We brought him to the vet, but his condition seemed to worsen day by day. But after ten days Jimmy finally recovered.
At that time we saw another dog at the clinic, without a home or an owner and we took him with us. He became the second member of our new family.
We started to attend Red Crescent volunteer revival classes.
Although the other twenty dogs were all purebred, Jimmy became the leader of the class.
So the story of Rasa Animal Shelter all began with a dog named Jimmy.
Many dogs, who would have lived hard and painful lives in the streets or with brutal owners or even would have died otherwise, now have a chance to live healthy and happily with our Rasa Family.
At least 800 dogs, cats, donkeys and birds can now live in peace because of Jimmy.
Today Jimmy became the guardian and trainer of dogs that are going to protect the shelter in the future.
